For 8 years, Smerwick On Site (SOS), IT department of Smerwick Ltd. Taiwan Branch,  has been a key partner for an increasing number of companies that are looking for state of the art, seamless IT maintenance and support.

Our Team

Our team is currently composed of 3 IT enthusiastic who grew up in a world of PCs, servers, Microsoft and Linux mixed IT systems. We speak English, Mandarin and French.

Jean-Pascal Rignault, account manager, has been living in Taipei for more than 10 years. French national graduated from Paris Dauphine University, Jean-Pascal first landed in Taiwan in 1998, working as IT manager for the French Economic Department.

Jean-Pascal then joined Smerwick in January 2000, and has since worked as IT manager for Smerwick in Taiwan, as well as developing SOS.
Jean-Pascal has grown a strong appetite for novelty, and is always trying new software and hardware solutions - whether they come from IT industry majors or from the Open Source community.

Koung-Huy Ear, our head technical computer-savvy, originally came to Taiwan to improve his Chinese. Koung-Huy joined SOS in June 2008. Coming from Nantes, France, Koung-Huy obtained a Microsoft certification for Windows 2000 servers in 2004. As he likes to put it, if you understand the principles of a server, Windows or Linux does not matter - it's all about try and test, validate and deploy. Web, email, application or file sharing servers, whatever the base you wish to use, Koung-Huy will always have a solution that fits your needs.

Allen Weng, Taiwanese engineer, financed his studies by working at the famous GuangHua computer market, in the heart  of Taipei. Needless to say, PC hardware has no secret for him! Allen only has to lay an eye on your machine to know its internals. Allen joined SOS in June 2008.

Solid Foundations

SOS benefits from the support of the Smerwick group (well established trading group in Asia since 1982), being able to use its resources (accounting and finance) to run its daily operation.
